Rehearsal at the studio
It was a rehearsal night of the name of the band is Hot Samba Club Band at the usual studio after a long time. But it starts at 10 PM, I went off home after setting for recording the japanese movie titled "The Radio Time" on video from TV.
I dropped in at my shop to take a conga and a music sheet stand on the way. Oh, I remembered that there're some members to whom I hadn't handed the performance fee of the last month's event yet. So, I prepared that at my shop.
I had even gotten the call from our guitarist that he would be a little late, I asked to him " OK, Where are you now?" then he answered " in Matsusaka, I'm just in a rehearsal and the show will end at 10 PM, so I'll be in Ise a little late."
Well, I brought a conga not a set of congas because of the rainy weather, with an alto-sax and the music sheet bag to the studio. A conga packed in a soft case on my back, slung a music sheet bag over my right shoulder, an alto-sax in a hard case with my left hand, and a business bag with my right hand, It's impossible if I'm not a kind of macho. is a lie.
In the studio,
Piano player said "Mr. drum seems to be late.". I replied " Mr. guitar also will be late.". Bass player answered " Oh, I know that. The music school invites a guest singer from Osaka and will have the live show tonight, so he must be on that show as a guitarist" I said ."Huuum, he's really gonna be active nowadays"
Not to waste time, we started playing some tunes with already appeared members who were piano, bass ,trombone, trumpet, singer, and me on conga not on sax. "OK,next. Whatever tunes and songs are OK except 4 beat, because all of the rhythm is only on this conga."
After played a couple of tunes, Mr. drum appeared in a little late. And another regular drummer also arrived almost in a same time. Then Mr.percussion, another two singers, came in the studio. After all only guitarist did not appear.
Well, that means we had three persons except me on 1 set of drums or a conga, so we played a conga by turns. I know if I played on sax, there's less problem at least, but we had a trombone player and trumpet player too, so I even did not open my saxophone case. I was gonna be a one of percussionists. But don't warry.
When it comes to play salsa, one for drum set, one for conga, one for bongo cowbell, and last one for claves with wood block.
Or, if it comes to play samba, .one for drum set, one for suldo with floor tom of drum set, one for repnique whitch was bringed, and last one for tambolin or shaker. We never in trouble by having too many percussionists.
Oh, yes, We got a booking on 25 Jul. at a local event at the Miya river park from this studio's owner. Of course, as a latin band. But he said that we could use for an hour and a half, hey, how we may use the stage for such a long time as a festival event, not as a music live show.
Added to that, we got another booking at 27 Aug. This one is as a jazz live show, and will be in special reserved a pizza shop whitch was remodeled for pizza restautant from an old storehouse with thick mortar walls. Sounds interesting! This is purely jazz live, we are going to use 2 hour and some more for the show.
After going back to home, I took a bath in hurry, then I watched the video that has recorded "Radio Hour".wahahahahahahaha, It's very interesting!
Going to bed at over 3 AM in midnight.(Should I say "in morning"?)
